Q&A · maintenance
Does slate need to be sealed, and if so, how often?
Slate is generally less porous than other natural stones and may not always require sealing, especially if it has a natural cleft finish. However, sealing can enhance its appearance, protect against stains, and is often recommended for wet areas like showers or floors. If sealed, reapplication every 1 to 2 years is typical, or as needed based on a water test.
