Q&A · installation
How should a subfloor be prepared for natural stone tile installation?
The subfloor must be structurally sound, solid, flat, dry, and thoroughly clean, free of oil, wax, grease, or asphalt. For natural stone, a deflection rating of L/360 or better is often required. An appropriate underlayment, such as cement board or an uncoupling membrane, should be installed to prevent cracking.
