Visually spectacular, unique aesthetic with translucency and dramatic veining. Can be backlit for a luminous effect. Excellent for feature walls, bar tops, bathroom vanities, and shower walls (when properly sealed). Lighter weight than some other natural stones, suitable for vertical applications.

Considerations

Fragile and soft (Mohs 3-4), prone to scratches, chips, and etching from acidic substances. Porous, requires consistent sealing and pH-neutral cleaners. Installation is complex and requires experienced professionals. Higher cost. Thinner panels for backlighting are more fragile and require backing.
